Ways The Weather Can Affect Your Piling Project

Before any piling work can begin, you must be aware of the weather forecast for the duration of the project. There are many health and safety guidelines that you must follow in order to complete a successful piling project.

With the summer months coming up quickly, it is important to know how the different types of weather can affect the construction of your piling project. Let’s take a look at some of the different ways the weather can disrupt your project and the best way to deal with the conditions.

  1. Warm weather can result in soil shrinkage

Although the warm weather is nice and dry when you are out working, there are many different reasons why the warm weather isn’t always a good idea. High temperatures can lead to the moisture from the soil being evaporated and this can lead to damage in the soil ground therefore affecting the piles before they have been secured into the ground.

  1. Wet or damp weather can weaken the soil

If it’s raining outside or the air seems damp, it will not be a common occurrence that your project will be delayed until the weather becomes dry again. This is especially common in the piling industry. Rainwater or dampness from the weather can combine with the soil which will create a very unsafe working environment. In addition, overly moist soil can result in an inaccuracy with installing the piles and you won’t be able to complete a high-quality job like you originally planned.
