Environmental Considerations in Piling

By 10/10/2024No Comments

As an emphasis on a sustainable future continues to grow, the team here at Rhino Piling are making it their mission to carry out all piling work with sustainability in mind. In today’s article, we are going to be covering some environmental considerations in piling. This article will explore key aspects of sustainable piling practices. From sustainable piling techniques to eco-friendly piling equipment, we are going to be covering it all in this article today. Without further ado, let’s get straight into it!

Sustainable Piling Techniques:

As we all know by now, there is an array of piling techniques on offer. From traditional piling to screw piling, there is something to suit every project’s needs. More traditional piling methods that usually involve concrete and steel have a much higher carbon footprint, meaning they are less environmentally friendly. Some of the most sustainable piling techniques include:

  • Screw piles.
  • Board piles.
  • Timber piles.

When possible, we try opting for the most sustainable piling technique, but this is of course subjective to the type of piling project and its specific needs.

Equipment Used:

This environmental consideration works hand in hand with the choice of piling technique. This is because, depending on what type of piling technique is used, different methods require different types of equipment. For example, screw piling requires a lot less equipment in comparison to the amount of equipment used for traditional piling methods. The less equipment used leads to fewer emissions being emitted.

Noise and Vibration:

Another key environmental consideration to take into account is the amount of noise and vibrations generated during the piling process. Loud noise and vibration can really disturb wildlife and local residents. By utilising less equipment and reducing the amount of noise produced throughout the piling process, we can ensure that we are causing fewer disruptions to the environment, local residents, and nearby wildlife.
