Piling an Extension in Mold Wales

Rhino Piling have recently completed a large piling project for a wraparound extension in Mold Wales 🌄.

This was a project which required a lot of 𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 before starting the project due to retaining walls, difference in ground levels, drains, manholes, as well as existing buildings being in the way.

The 𝐈𝐒𝐒𝐔𝐄𝐒 on the project where as follows.

There was a fence which would be venerable to the elements once the excavation was done and most likely would fall into the neighbour’s garden!

This was a simple fix, and it was agreed the fence panels would be removed prior to excavation.

There were 3 manholes in the position that the ground beam was to be installed.

We decided to reduce the level of the manholes to below the level of the ground beam and temporarily cap them off to allow for the concreting of the ground beam.

The existing garage was positioned on top of where a new ground beam was to be installed.

The front wall of the garage was temporarily removed and supported to allow for the installation of the ground beam.

A pile cap was required inside the garage, where a steel column would be installed at a future stage of the build.

We worked out the required height for the piling equipment and ensured the excavation was deep enough to allow for the piling equipment.

There was a difference in ground levels from the front of the property to the rear of the property.

The front of the project was concreted using the ground to retain the concrete, the rear of the property which would have been out of the ground was shuttered to retain the concrete.

After a few site meetings prior to starting the project we came up with a 𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐍 along with the homeowner, structural engineer & architect 🙌.

We then visited site during the excavation phase of the project to help with any queries in the excavation ahead of our scheduled start.

By planning the project and following this plan up with periodic 𝐒𝐈𝐓𝐄 𝐕𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐓𝐒 prior to the piling stage, allowed us to ensure that the piling element of the project went 𝐒𝐌𝐎𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐋𝐘.
