This domestic piling project took us to Manchester for a project involving a detached property where the owners had plans for a rear extension.
We assessed the site and assisted the builder during the excavation phase to ensure utilities were correctly mapped, the trenches weren’t too narrow or shallow for the beam, and our piles could be positioned appropriately. Builders appreciate our advice, as it speeds the project up and helps prevent them from overspending on concrete.
By the end of the first piling day, all seven piles were driven, thanks to our early arrival and efficient planning.
On the second day, we installed five steel cages. These cages play a crucial role in distributing weight evenly across the foundations, preventing undue stress on the driven piles. The dimensions of our steel cages are meticulously tailored to engineer specifications, ensuring the best fit for the structure.
At the close of the second day, the building inspector conducted a thorough examination of the piling, footings, and steel cages and green-lit the concrete pour, which was completed on the third and final day.
The concrete was given ample time to settle and cure over the weekend, setting the stage for the arrival of the bricklayers on Monday morning, with the foundations fully in place.
